PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NM) River Flooding in Roswell, NM

Summary: Gage repairs and flood measurements continue throughout the Roswell, NM area.

On Saturday October 19th, Roswell, NM received 5.78 inches of rain breaking the previous daily record of 1.83 inches set in 1983. There have been two deaths and over 300 people rescued from the severe flooding. In response to the rainfall event, the NMWSC Roswell Field Office has three employees out today making gage repairs and flood measurements on the Pecos River and its tributaries. Two streamgages were damaged by the flooding and the site 08394500 RIO FELIX AT OLD HWY BRD NR HAGERMAN, NM is also likely to have been destroyed by the flooding. The NMWSC is also coordinating making flood measurements below Diamond A Dam with the Army Corps of Engineers.
