PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (FL) Flood measurements and repairs continue throughout the Tampa Bay Region.

Date: Wed, 16 Oct 2024 21:43:12 EDT

Summary: Highwater measurements and repairs continue as the Withlacoochee River slowly goes into flood conditions.

While the rivers and tributaries around Tampa Bay are receding following Hurricane Milton, gaging stations along the Peace and Withlacoochee Rivers are just peaking or still rising creating flood conditions along the reaches.

Twelve teams completed nine gages were repaired and sixteen discharge measurements yesterday and today. Nine of the sites recorded peak of record water levels and three of the measurements were period of record discharge measurements on the Withlacoochee River. The gaging stations along the Withlacoochee have long periods of record and haven't had measurements in this range since the 1930s or 1960s. Sites up to Rital, FL have been measured, the Tampa office will continue to get measurements along the Withlacoochee as the peak continues to move toward downstream locations.
