Date: Sat, 12 Oct 2024 21:29:44 EDT

Summary: Flood measurements continue in Central Florida from Hurricane Milton rainfall

Two crews from CFWSC-Orlando continued flood response in Central Florida after Hurricane Milton. High flows at water control structures were targeted in the Ocklawaha River basin and the canals around Disney World in the Reedy Creek basin today. Four discharge measurements were made, and one gage was repaired after equipment problems were found. Two measurements ranked 2nd for their 37-year periods of record.

Mid- and large drainage basins will be targeted near their discharge peaks next week. Yesterday, the St. Johns River at Astor (02236125), a high-profile gage during floods, surpassed the previous gage height peak set from Hurricane Ian in 2022 by 0.1 ft.
