PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (VA) VA-WV WSC Response to Helene

Summary: Major Flooding Impacts in New River basin in SW VA
Two crews from the Marion, VA, Field Office for the VA-WV WSC are currently deployed to field sites in the New River Basin. Five discharge measurements were made by crews on Thursday, Sept. 26th. Today's work is focused on mainstem New River sites that are expected to peak at major flood stage tomorrow into Sunday morning. No peaks are expected to exceed period of record.
All streamgages in the area are operational.
Crews from the Marion, VA, and Charleston, WV Field Offices are on call for additional discharge measurements throughout the weekend.
