Summary: Strong storms from Debby are bringing moderate to heavy rain, strong winds, across Central Pennsylvania since late Thursday night/early Friday morning.
The moderate to heavy rain is bringing minor to moderate flooding across Central Pennsylvania affecting smaller streams that are flashy. The rain is forecasted to end late Friday afternoon. The Susquehanna Basin and its tributaries are the areas where the storm are impacting. Currently there are only less than 10 streamgages in minor flooding.
All streamgages are transmitting with no damage at this time.
PA WSC has deployed scientists from the New Cumberland Office. They have 2 crews of 2 collecting higher flows.
PAWSC scientists deployed 3 rapid deployment gages and 3 pressure transducers at ungaged locations in advance of forecasted flooding earlier this week in southcentral and southeastern PA. The sites were selected in collaboration with cooperators PennDOT and FEMA Region 3. The sites have been added to the USGS Flood Event Viewer for the 2024 Debby event.
Streamflow measurements at the larger rivers may be needed tomorrow.
