PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (FL) Flood measurements continue throughout the Tampa Bay Region

Date: Thu, 08 Aug 2024 10:07:25 EDT

Summary: The Tampa office continues to make discharge measurements throughout the region as water levels start to recede.

The Tampa Bay region is starting to see some relief from the flood conditions from TS Debby. Most of the flood forecast sites are predicting the water levels to be below action stage by the end of the week if they aren't there already, except for 02298830. The water management district has made some adjustments on the Hillsborough River to redirect flow through the Bypass Canal, so water levels are still increasing at 02303330 and expected to peak tomorrow. We are starting to see an increase in water levels on the Withlachoochee River and will continue to monitor into next week.

Yesterday, the Tampa office had 7 teams deployed for repairs and discharge measurements. Thirteen measurements were made to verify ratings or for rating development. The second highest measurement on record was made at 02298760 Howard Creek near Sarasota, FL., established in 1983 with the highest measurement on record from 1988.

There are 5 teams deployed today to continue getting discharge measurements.
