PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (FL) Impacts of TS Debby in Tampa Bay

Summary: Heavy rainfall and flooding in the Tampa Bay region as Tropical Storm Debby moved along the Gulf Coast before making landfall.

Tropical Storm Debby (now a Category 1 Hurricane) moved north along the gulf coast and the Tampa Bay region on Aug. 4 causing coastal and inland flooding.

As of this morning, our precipitation network has recorded 6-12 inches with additional rain expected throughout the day. Our streamgaging network did well through the storm with two sites that will be repaired today.

The Tampa office currently has 9 teams deployed to capture high water measurements throughout the region this week. We currently have at three sites (listed below) that will reach a peak of record, two in the Bradenton/Sarasota area that saw 12 inches of rain, and one in Tampa. We expect more POR sites as bands go through the area today.
