PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (TX) Hurricane Beryl

Date: Mon, 08 Jul 2024 15:04:28 EDT

Summary: Response to flooding from Beryl

The response to Beryl is underway. Six crews of 2 people from the Gulf Coast Branch were sent to the field after the storm passed, concentrating on Buffalo Bayou, Brays Bayou, White Oak Bayou, and their tributaries (San Jacinto Basin). Although 16 measurements are planned, time constraints may limit the number that can be taken. These sites are mainly located to the west and southwest of downtown Houston.

A crew of two people from our South Texas Branch is concentrating on the Coastal Basin, aiming to measure five sites that are all relatively close to each other. 3 of these measurements are in support of the USGS TXDOT RQ-30 project.

Local offices will continue to monitor sites and respond as needed.

No peak of record are currently anticipated.

No gages have been damaged or destroyed; all gages are transmitting.
