PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (TX) Some flooding continues in East Texas

Summary: Most of the flooding in the OTWSC is now concentrated in East Texas. As most rivers are now receding.

he Houston office is the only office that currently has crews out making medium to high flow measurements today.


Precipitation amounts are finally decreasing over the entire OTWSC. However, forecasted rains are now indicating
precipitation over most of the OTWSC area from 1-4 inches over the next several days. Most flooding is dropping
into the moderate and minor flood stage with the only major flooding now in the Houston area.

As of Thursday morning (5/9):

Houston field unit has four crews in the field making high flow measurements, field verifications and
obtaining high water marks. Most of their focus continues to be on the Trinity and San Jacinto River
watersheds. They have measured at least 16 peaks of record in the past ten days. They have only received
damage at one site due to the high flows currently.

Austin field unit has two crews out conducting indirect measurement surveys today.

The other offices in the Oklahoma-Texas water science center that are not currently experiencing high flow
conditions continue to monitor their area and prepare crews to deploy if forecasted rain occurs.
