Summary: Most of the flooding in the OTWSC continues to be in Central and East Texas, with some localized flooding in Eastern Oklahoma.
The Houston, Austin, San Angelo, Oklahoma City and Tulsa offices have crews out measuring medium to high flows,
collecting water samples and making gage repairs many that were caused by flooding.
Precipitation amounts are finally decreasing over the entire OTWSC and forecasted rains are looking much lighter for
the entire area over the next several days. Most flooding is dropping into the moderate and minor flood stage.
As of Tuesday morning (5/7):
Houston field unit has three crews in the field making high flow measurements,
field verifications and obtaining high water marks. Most of their focus continues to be on the Trinity and
San Jacinto River watersheds. They have measured at least 16 peaks of record in the past ten days. They have
only received damage at one site due to the high flows currently.
Austin field unit has two crews in the field making high flow measurements, field verifications and obtaining
high water marks. They also have two crews out making indirect measurements surveys.
San Angelo field unit has two crews in the field making medium-high flow measurements, field verifications
and obtaining high water marks.
Oklahoma City field unit has a crew in the field making a high flow measurement, field verification and obtaining
high water marks.
Tulsa field unit has two crews in the field making medium-high flow measurements, field verifications and
obtaining high water marks.
The other offices in the Oklahoma-Texas water science center that are not currently experiencing high flow
conditions continue to monitor their area and prepare crews to deploy if needed.
