Flooding is occurring in the eastern part of Texas, with isolated flooding at 2 sites in Oklahoma. Over the last 3 days significant rainfall has occurred in the eastern part of the state.
More precipitation is expected this week. There is a possibility of additional river flooding across the Northeast and Southeast Texas. Rainfall over the past 2 days has generated action to major flooding across the Sabine, San Jacinto, Neches, and Trinity River systems.
More rain is expected for Texas through the early part of next week, grounds are saturated so this could lead to moderate and isolated major river flooding.
The river basins most affected are the Sabine, San Jacinto, Neches, and Trinity.
Currently, 35 USGS streamgages in Texas and 2 USGS streamgages in Oklahoma are above the NWS action stage.
USGS flood activities include field operations by 8 crews making discharge measurements, inspecting streamgages, identifying high-water marks, and collecting water-quality samples if warranted. Individuals remain in various offices to assist in flood coordination, extend/change rating curves and communicating information to partners.
