PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IL MO) Crews responding to High Water in Western/Central Missouri and Central Illinois

Summary: Crews have been responding to high water in parts of western Missouri and Central Illinois as result of weekend storms.

Crews in the Lee's Summit, MO office have been responding to high water in parts of western Missouri. Many sites did not exceed minor flood stage with a couple sites forecast to reach moderate flooding levels. Most response has been for the purpose of filling rating gaps.

Yesterday crews attempted to measure streamflow at Little Osage at Horton but were unable due to flooded access roads. The site peaked overnight and came close to, but did not exceed the peak of 2007.

Locust Creek near Linneus (06901500)
Medicine Creek near Laredo (06900050)


Today crews are attempting to measure streamflow at Little Osage at Horton (06917060) if accessible.

Additionally, an orifice line was lost at Blackwater River at Valley City (06907700). Crews will repair the line and flag high water marks for indirects once levels subside.
