PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OH) Minor flooding in Ohio.

Date: Wed, 03 Apr 2024 07:02:18 EDT

Summary: A third straight day of heavy rain in Ohio.

A third straight day of heavy rain in Ohio has kept many sites in minor flooding. Statewide, over the past three days, Ohio has received between 3 to 8 inches of rain, however antecedent moisture conditions were dry therefore the flooding isn't as bad as it could have been. The hardest hit watersheds have been the Licking River, the Scioto River and its tributaries and Big Walnut Creek. No gages have been destroyed however, one gage which was recently relocated due to bridge construction is transmitting bad data. USGS will be sending out four crews today as a response to this event, plus one crew to repair the gage transmitting bad data and remove equipment off a bridge. Crews will be measuring streams in the following watersheds: Licking River, Scioto River and some of its tributaries, as well as Wills Creek and Captina Creek. I will be notifying local cooperators shortly.
