Summary: A storm system across the east coast brought moderate rain and strong winds across Virginia and West Virginia Tuesday.
Virginia and West Virginia received a 2 to 4 inches of widespread precipitation and strong winds causing minor to moderate coastal and inland flooding. Sites in affected areas are experiencing high water within the expected range for a storm in the region during this time of year. No gages are experiencing record flows.
One furnished record surface-water site is not transmitting. Not related to storm effects. Data provider has been notified. One precipitation site is not transmitting. Not related to storm effects.
The Science Center had a total of 7 crews respond to this event to measure streamflow and/or collect water-quality samples. Field work is likely to continue through tomorrow as a result of this event.
The Center has been coordinating with Federal, State, and local partners.
