Summary: A significant coastal storm has resulted in minor to moderate flooding in western, central and southern Maine.
A widespread 2 to 4.5 inches of rain, on top of a frozen ground with a ripe snowpack in the mountains/headwaters, has resulted in minor to moderate flooding in western, central and southern Maine.
Currently, 5 sites in the Kennebec and Androscoggin River basins meet or exceed previously computed 1 or 2% AEP. Many others are in the 4-10% AEP range. Most sites are expected to peak tonight or tomorrow. Seven stations are forecasted to reach moderate flood stage.
No stations are damaged, but a handful are approaching battery elevations.
Tomorrow's response will depend on road closures, power outages (~350k without power currently), and staff availability, but will including HWMs, needed streamgage repairs, indirect measurements and rating/peak confirmation.
