Summary: Tropical Storm Calvin passed south of the Hawaiian Islands yesterday, causing minor flooding in some windward locations of Hawaii County (Big Island).
The largest impacts from the storm occurred yesterday (7/19/23) on the windward (eastern) side of Hawaii County with minor flooding reported in some locations. All gaging stations in Hawaii County are operational. Maximum 24-hr rainfall totals varied between 6 and 9 inches in Hawaii and Maui Counties and less than 2 inches in other Counties. No stations reported gage height above NWS flood stage.
Field crews will be sent out to inspect gages, measure discharge, verify high-water marks and flag for indirect measurements if warranted.
