Summary: Minor to moderate flooding across Western Massachusetts caused by heavy rainfall over the past 36 hours.
Three or more inches of rain has fallen on Western Massachusetts over the past 36 hours with periods of intense rain in localized areas, causing some flash flooding in the region. Portions of the Deerfield River and the Connecticut River continue to rise this evening. The Connecticut River is expected to be well into moderate flood stage tomorrow (7/11/23).
Two teams were deployed and made discharge measurements on the Westfield, Farmington, Deerfield, and Hoosic basins. Additional measurements are planned for the Housatonic, Deerfield, and Connecticut Rivers tomorrow.
One gage on the Deerfield River has likely suffered damage from the flood and is expected to be back working by tomorrow.
