Summary: Follow up work after the latest storms
Precipitation continued over much of the state yesterday and into today and is tapering off today. During the afternoon yesterday, strong winds with gusts over 60 mph affected the Bay area, Sacramento, and down to San Diego, killing 2 people, knocking out power to 250,000 people, and breaking windows in the Bay area.
Today, six crews of nine from Santa Cruz and Santa Maria are measuring key recession flows, rivers receiving reservoir releases, or sampling at streamgages near the coast. The rest of the field crews are working on records collected during the recent storms.
The Santa Maria Field Office is preparing to install two of RDGs by the end of the week for deployment downstream of Lake Success on the Tule River and Deer Creek downstream of the damaged gage. These will provide important information to the City of Porterville.
