PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) high flow measurements and gage repairs

Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2023 12:57:02 EDT

Summary: high flow measurements and gage repairs

High flows continue in many parts of the state due to the last atmospheric river and additional rain through the weekend. Today, 9 crews of 19 staff are measuring high streamflows and, where accessible, repairing streamgages in advance of the next storm.

Sites measured today include Salinas River at Spreckles, Carmel at Big Sur, Gibralter, Cache Creek Overflow Weir (plus sediment sample), Cow Creek near Millville, and 2 Spanish Creek gages (at Keddie and at Quincy). In addition, a crew is planning to measure high flows at ungaged Smithneck Creek in Loyalton and Perry Creek in Sierraville, both of interest to FEMA studies.
