PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (MO) Continued response to Metro St. Louis flooding event

Summary: Historic rainfall in St. Louis Metro Area resulting in major urban flooding, USGS Crews responding.

Historic rainfall in metro St.Louis resulted urban flooding.

Due to the flashy nature of these urban sites, the peaks have passed and continued streamflow measurement response is not expected. Measurements at 4 locations were obtained yesterday.

and
06935955 Fee Fee Creek nr Bridgeton, MO
were both submerged and damaged by the flooding. Yesterday, crews worked quickly to restore data collection at these locations.

There are 12 staff responding and today. Crews have been performing inspections and other stations repairs to stabilize the network while determining needs for indirect measurements.

At this point, six locations have been determined to require indirect measurements. additional sites are expected. Crews will begin flagging high water marks tomorrow with surveys to follow over the next several days or weeks.
