USGS Oregon Water Science Center Responding to high water conditions in North Western Oregon.

Seasonally heavy rainfall rainfall occurred Friday night and over the weekend in the Willamette Valley. Resulting in high Inflows to USACE reservoirs in Lane County (Upper Willamette Valley); inflows were more significant than expected. USACE reservoir at Dorena approached the spillway crest. USGS crew was sent out to verify sensor readings at three reservoirs. One reservoir (14153000) had a sensor malfunction (1 ft error) that was corrected at 3:30 pm during a USGS site visit.

Two gages are above action stage, and the Columbia River at Vancouver is going to reach flood stage by Tuesday; crews will be deployed for measurements on the Lower Columbia for rating verification early this week (Mon-Wed).

USGS staff will continue to work closely with USACE to verify readings, but no more flood work is expected for the Upper Willamette Valley this coming week, and reservoir releases have already been decreased. Local field offices will make measruement for ratings as needed.
