Date: Fri, 15 Oct 2021 13:19:00 EDT

Summary: Central Texas flooding is ongoing from recent rainfall at several USGS streamflow gages.

Torrential rainfall from Hurricane Pamela remnants provided four to six inches of widespread rain in the San Antonio and San Marcos, TX region, with urban flash flooding taking place October 13th and 14th. Numerous highwater rescues transpired due to rising floodwaters, tragically two fatalities occurred near San Antonio, TX one a five-year-old girl. Ten to twelve inches of rain also fell near Gonzales and Leesville, TX resulting in ongoing rural flooding. Major flooding occurred on the San Marcos River at Luling, TX yesterday evening, is ongoing at Sandies Creek near Westhoff, TX today, and is forecast at two downstream sites (Guadalupe River at Victoria, TX and Guadalupe River near Bloomington, TX - Saturday and Sunday, respectively).

USGS flood activities include field operations by seven crews (two people in each crew) over the past two days making discharge measurements and inspecting streamgages.

Streamflow measurements are being made to verify river flows, results of discharge measurements are being provided to the National Weather Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other state and local partners.
