PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NJ) River Flooding

Summary: Major river flooding caused by heavy rain from remnants of Hurricane Ida

Extent of heavy precipitation was primarily the Northern half of New Jersey with the heaviest swath of precipitation/flooding from Stockton to Newark. Rainfall totals up to 8-10 inches fell in this region with 4-6 and 6-8 inches in other parts on Northern New Jersey.

6 streamgages were damaged by floodwaters (non-operable) and 5 more gages are operating, but need site visits and peak verification due to equipment malfunction.

6 teams obtained high water discharge measurements and 1 team was on gage repair detail.
