PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NY) Minor to Moderate flooding in New York

Summary: Widespread flooding is occurring in central & southeast New York
as a result of 3-5 inches rain during the past 24 hrs.

Widespread flooding is occurring in central & southeast New York as a
result of 3-5 inches rain during the past 24 hrs. About a dozen USGS
streamgages in the Delaware R, Susquehanna R, and Schoharie Cr basins
have exceeded NWS Flood Stage this afternoon (October 26). A few USGS
streamgages are forecast to reach moderate NWS Flood Stage overnight.
Minor coastal flooding is also occurring on Long Island.

A total of 11 USGS crews (22 personnel) from the Milford, Troy, Cortland,
and Coram offices are making about 20 high-flow discharge measurements
today for rating calibration. Additional follow-up measurements are
planned for tomorrow. All USGS gages are currently operating.
