Date: Wed, 08 Sep 2021 17:06:13 EDT

Summary: Documenting, preserving and surveying of High-Water Mark locations and elevations due to the flash-flooding associated with Tropical Cyclone Ida in the 5 Boroughs of NYC.

In response to Tropical Cyclone Ida's affects on the New York City area the USGS New York Water Science Center (NYWSC) is continuing the work of preserving, documenting and surveying elevations of approximately 100 High-Water Mark locations caused by flash-flooding in the region. There are three teams of two working in the Five Boroughs of NYC today. The fieldwork is expected to continue for the next several weeks. Data will be available on https://stn.wim.usgs.gov/fev/#2021TropicalCycloneIda as it gets processed and reviewed. High-Water Mark locations were picked with guidance from FEMA, NYCEM and NYCDEP. This project is funded through a FEMA Mission Assignment.
