Summary: PA Water Science Center continues storm response to the remnants of Hurricane Ida
Rainfall has pretty much ended across the state. Rainfall totals of 4-8” were observed over the past 48 hours.
Multiple measurements were made yesterday across the state.
Twelve gages in major flood status, primarily in southeast PA. Most gages have peaked, a few still peaking.
Peak of record flooding at 5 gages (two at gages with over 100 years of record). Other gages were near POR.
Four gages need or had ratings extended
Sixteen crews from all four offices (Downingtown, New Cumberland, Pittsburgh, and Williamsport) are out making high flow discharge measurements.
Additional discharge measurements will likely be made over the next couple of days as we will review sites today and tomorrow to make additional measurements and flag high water marks.
Water-quality/Sediment – New Cumberland 4 crews, Downingtown 3 crews and Williamsport 1 crew out collecting water-quality and/or sediment samples.
Four sites are down or having issues, crews are on the way to investigate and repair
