PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NJ) River Flooding

Summary: Heavy rain associated with Hurricane/T.S. Henri resulting in widespread flooding.

Heavy rain associated with an upper level low and inverted trough interacting with Hurricane Henri caused flooding in Central and Northern New Jersey on Saturday, Aug 21 into Sunday, Aug 22. Storm totals generally ranged from 3-5 inches with local reports of up to 8 inches. Precipitation directly associated with Tropical Storm Henri (later downgraded to Tropical Depression Henri) then tracked over the same area in New Jersey on Sunday, Aug 22 into Monday, Aug 23. Widespread precipitation totals of 4-8 inches occurred in North and Central New Jersey.

One streamgage was damaged. A crew has been deployed to assess/repair.

Six crews have been deployed to obtain high-flow discharge measurements.
