Date: Tue, 13 Jul 2021 12:51:43 EDT

Summary: Minor flooding (NWS terminology) occurring in s small area of Ohio

Minor flooding is occurring in a small part of Ohio, specifically around the Cleveland, Ohio area. Portions of Ohio have received rain for seven straight days, however rainfall has been on the light to moderate side (1/2 to 1 inch each day). Additionally, antecedent ground moisture conditions were dry with some areas under a D0 drought designation.

The main drainage basins affected by minor flooding are the Black River and Rocky River drainage basins, and both are on the west side of the Cleveland Ohio metropolitan area.

One crew (2 people) from the Columbus Field Office was sent to measure sites in the aforementioned drainage basins, while another crew (2 people) was fortuitously already in the Cleveland area as part of a routine streamgaging trip.

Flood measurements are being input into NWSChat. Additionally, the main cooperator in the area, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District has been notified of our actions.
