Heavy rains from a strong line of storms overnight swept through the Southeast United States, causing rivers to rise quickly in localized areas of North Carolina and northeast Georgia.
Six two-person crews from the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center are responding by making flood measurements today-three crews from the Norcross Office, two crews from Asheville (Arden) office, and one crew from the Charlotte office. The Charlotte crew is measuring a peak-of-record flood at station 0214269560 Killian Creek near Mariposa, NC.
