PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OR) Oregon WSC HIgh Water

Date: Tue, 22 Dec 2020 11:46:20 EST

Summary: Northwest Oregon experience moderately heavy rain with high snow levels this past weekend with additional less intense rainfall Monday.

This storm system impacted several areas affected by the Oregon Fires in 2020 and generated at least one Landslide near an USGS streamflow gage on USFS land. The USACE used the available storage in the reservoir system to hold back water in the Willamette Valley but a number of USGS gages were at or above bankfull due to the unregulated inflows.

4 USGS Crews were deployed on Sunday for streamflow measurements with additional measurements made on Monday. Lower Columbia River Sediment sampling was made on Monday with another sample planned for today. Storm WQ samples were collected in the Johnson Creek Basin near Portland.

As of today, 4 sites are currently above action stage. One site is being visited due to equipped damaged during the high water and a few sites are being measured to fill rating gaps.
