Summary: Field crews install storm surge sensors along Gulf Coast ahead of Hurricane Delta landfall.
Field crews from the LMG installed 24 pairs of storm-tide and atmospheric pressure sensors October 6-7 ahead of the projected landfall of Hurricane Delta in SW Louisiana. The sensors were located along a coastal reach from approximately the Texas border to Gulf Shores, AL. Sensors were set to record at 1 minute intervals at pre-installed housing locations. The data recorded by the sensors will be stored in the Short Term Network (STN) database upon retrieval. A total of 7 personnel from the Baton Rouge, Jackson, and Montgomery offices participated and help was also provided by personnel from the Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC) in Lafayette.
