PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (FL) Florida Panhandle Flooding

Summary: Staff from Tallahassee, Orlando, and Lutz Field Offices are collecting streamflow data, high water marks, and repairing impacted streamgages from Hurricane Sally.

The historic rainfalls from Hurricane Sally have resulted in three gages rising to major flood level, four gages are in moderate flood level, and five gages are in minor flood level. At least four sites have set new peak of record gage heights. One rating curve has been extended. One gage has malfunctioned.

Crews from Florida will continue to collect streamflow measurements in areas where flow conditions warrant a measurement. The main focus area for the data collection are in the western portion of the Florida Panhandle. There are a total of 10 staff working in the field today.
