PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (DC DE MD) USGS MD-DE-DC Response to TS Isaias

Summary: Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to produce up to 6 inches of rain in less than 24 hours in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

As Tropical Storm Isaias approaches the Mid-Atlantic region, which is expected to produce up to 6 inches of rain within a 24-hour period, USGS field crews from the MD-DE-DC WSC are being deployed to collect water-quality samples and measure flows. In Maryland, there will be 7 crews, totaling 15 staff, measuring stream flow in Baltimore, Frederick, Harford, Howard, and Montgomery Counties. In addition, there will be 2 crews, totaling 4 staff, measuring flows in New Castle County, Delaware. There will be 4 crews, totaling 8 staff, collecting sediment and water-quality samples in Baltimore, Harford, Montgomery, Kent, and Washington Counties of Maryland. There will be a single crew, 2 staff, collecting water-quality samples in the District of Columbia.
