PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (PR) Puerto Rico Drought

Summary: Drought conditions continue in Puerto Rico.

Operational adjustments are being made to reservoirs, pumped groundwater wells, and treatment facilities in an effort to conserve the current water supply. Rationing has begun in the metropolitan areas of San Juan and Ponce. The local USGS office continues to obtain low flow discharge measurements to confirm low flow ratings. The local office participates in weekly reservoir and drought committee conference calls to provide additional support.
