Date: Tue, 19 May 2020 08:59:33 EDT

Summary: Central Midwest Water Science Center crews responding to high water generated from storms starting Thursday 5/14 through the weekend.

Strong storms passed through parts of the Midwest starting last Thursday bringing heavy rainfall in some territories covered by the Central Midwest Water Science Center (CMWSC.

Last week Missouri crews measured on the Grand River and other sites in the Columbia and Chillicothe area.

Iowa Staff measured high water in the Davenport and Western Illinois area.

Illinois crews measured in the Des Plaines Basin, Kishwaukee Basin, and DuPage Basin of Northern Illinois. Measurements were made in the Kankakee Basin, Vermillion River Basin, Des Plaines Basin, Fox River Basin in central Illinois.

Crews are still out in Northern Illinois with measurements planned in the DesPlaines and Kishwaukee Basin. Crews in Central Illinois plan to continue measure in the Illinois River Basin and expect a Peak of Record at Illinois River @ Marseilles (05543500).

Forecasts show little precipitation in the forecast for the next few days, so although measurements may continue into the week or longer on larger rivers such as the Illinois River, additional response is expected to be minimal and concentrated.

USGS staff are in contact with NWS via NWSChat informing them of measurements as they are being made.
