PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NV) NVWSC responds to a second round of high water this week

Date: Fri, 13 Mar 2020 10:41:27 EDT

Summary: The NVWSC is continuing to respond to sustained precipitation in and around Las Vegas.

The Henderson Field Office of the Nevada Water Science Center is deploying crews to flag for indirect measurements from sustained rains and flood peaks that occurred overnight on the Las Vegas Wash and tributaries along with the Amargosa Basin. Flows on the Las Vegas Wash were the highest since 2012. Several streamgages had flows higher than the upper end of their current ratings. Approximately 10 sites are planned for indirect measurement flagging with surveys to be completed next week.
