PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (KY) Flood response for southeastern Kentucky

Summary: USGS field personnel continue their response to recent significant rainfall in southeastern Kentucky.

Moderate to major flood conditions are ongoing for portions of the Upper Cumberland River Basin.

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Water Science Center, Williamsburg office, has 2 crews (4 people) out today making discharge measurements in the southeast portion of the state. Discharge measurements taken at several sites yesterday were the highest made in decades. All gages in the impacted area are currently operational. Contact with the National Weather Service and the US Army Corps of Engineers is ongoing.
