PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (MI) Widespread minor flooding in southern Michigan

Date: Tue, 14 Jan 2020 07:56:23 EST

Summary: Minor flooding continues in Michigan.

Over the weekend, southern Lower Michigan received one to three inches of rain, freezing rain, and sleet as part of a major weather system that moved from southwest to northeast across the state (and the Midwest) Saturday and early Sunday. Minor flooding occurred in many streams that had not recovered from previous events Sunday and Monday. Some streams aren't expected to peak until later this week and crews are standing by to measure them, as needed for rating definition.

On Monday, nine technicians comprising six crews made 15 discharge measurements. Four technicians are measuring 8 additional sites today.

USGS has been in contact with NWS Chat and emails.
