PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IL MO) CMWSC- Crews responding to high water in Southern Missouri and Central and Southern Illinois

Date: Sun, 12 Jan 2020 11:02:45 EST

Summary: Recent winter storm causing flooding in parts of Central and Southern Missouri and Central and Southern Illinois.

CMWSC crews are responding to flooding on streams and rivers in response to precipitation produced by the storm system that started working its way across the Midwest on Friday. Colder temperatures are causing some GOES transmission issues in parts of the center due to ice accumulation on transmission antennas. Crews are working to rectify these situations as safe travel allows.

The Olivette, MO office has 1 crew (2 staff) responding. The Mount Vernon, IL location has 1 crew (2 staff) deployed. The Urbana, IL office has 1 staff responding. The Lee's Summit office has 3 staff deployed.

28 sites were measured yesterday for a total of 31 sites measured for the event thus far. Crews will attempt to measure approximately 9 sites today.

Units chiefs and CMWSC staff will be communicating with NWS via NWSChat.

Crews will continue to monitor and respond to high water next week while also attending to gage repairs resulting from this event.
