PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IN) Moderate to major flooding in forecast in Indiana

Summary: Heavy rain over northern Indiana to bring major flooding over the coming weekend.

Over 5” of rain is forecast across northern Indiana within the next 36 hours. Moderate to major flood conditions are expected for portions of the Kankakee, Iroquois, Yellow, Calumet, and Maumee River Basins.

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Water Science Center, Indianapolis office, will have 2 crews (4 people) out today making discharge measurements at smaller creeks in the northwest portion of the state which are expected to crest in the next 24 hours. More crews are expected to join the response tomorrow. All gages are currently operational. Contact with the National Weather Service and the US Army Corps of Engineers is ongoing.
