PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (VA) VA-WV WSC responding to Hurricane Dorian

Date: Fri, 06 Sep 2019 16:12:57 EDT

Summary: As Hurricane Dorian exits the tidewater region of Virginia, most tide gages are at, or above, NWS-defined flood stage and the VA-WV WSC response has begun.

Staff from the VA-WV WSC have measured streamflow and water-quality conditions at multiple stations in the 12 station Hampton Roads Urban Monitoring Network. Over 13 discharge measurements were made, most are the highest measured flows at these stations for their period of record, and approximately 40 water quality samples were collected.

RDG and storm tide sensor recovery will begin Sunday (9/8). This is the final project alert for Hurricane Dorian from the VA-WV WSC.
