PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (GA) USGS SAWSC Staff Deploy Sensors to Monitor Potential Storm Surge for Hurricane Dorian

Summary: USGS SAWSC staff are deploying storm surge sensors and rapid-deployment gages along the Georgia coastline for FEMA in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian.

The USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center (SAWSC) has been tasked by FEMA to deploy approximately 50 storm-surge sensors and 12 rapid-deployment gages (RDGs) along the Georgia coast. Seven two-person teams should complete deployments tonight and return home first thing tomorrow morning. Additional sensors were being deployed closer to Savannah today given the change in hurricane track of Dorian.
