Summary: Heavy rainfall in in central Nebraska leads to minor flooding.
About 6-10 inches of rain fell overnight in central Nebraska causing minor flooding on the central Platte River basin and the Republican River basin, with anticipated major flooding streamgage 06770500 Platte River near Grand Island, Nebr. (https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=gid&gage=grin1&hydro_type=2).
Three USGS crews are actively measuring high flow and verifying peaks at nine streamgages, and it is anticipated that three crews will also be out doing the same on July 10 and 11 as we continue to monitor this high flow across the state.
All streamgages are operating well, and no indirect measurements of discharge are planned or needed. No peak of record flows are anticipated.
Information has been communicated via phone and emails to the USACE and the NWS.
