PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NY) Local Flooding in Upstate New York

Summary: Local flooding in central and northern New York.

Local flooding occurred in New York as a result of 2-3+ inches of rain during the past 24 hours. One USGS gage reached NWS Major Flood Stage upstream of Owasco Lake in central NY and one USGS gage reached NWS Minor Flood Stage in the Sacandaga R basin of northern NY. Streams are receding in most locations and all USGS gages are below NWS Flood stage, although a NWS Flood Warning remains in effect for small streams in the Rochester, NY area until mid afternoon today.

A total of 2 USGS crews (4 staff members) from the Potsdam, NY and Ithaca, NY offices are making several high-flow discharge measurements today for rating calibration. All USGS gages are currently operating. This is the last Project Alert for this high-flow event.
