PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (MO) High Water/Flood Activities within the Central Midwest Water Science Center

Date: Tue, 28 May 2019 13:49:22 EDT

Summary: Weekend rain in the region provided additional run-off for more high water and flooding across Missouri.

Flood measurement response continues for parts of Missouri. Weekend weather pumped additional water into the system maintaining or elevating flood levels for many stations in Missouri. 38 stations were above flood stage this morning in MO. 10 gages have been in flood stage for 70 days or longer. Crews made measurements through the weekend. 65 streamflow measurements have been performed since 5/21/19. At least 9 measurements were planned for today. Affected areas include the Missouri River, Grand River, Osage River, Fabius River, and Salt River basins.

NWS forecasts are calling for significant storms and high probability of flash flooding along the Northern MO and Southern IA boarder through the evening. Unit chiefs will be on high alert and will continue to monitor the weather and gages for planning continued response.
