Summary: Minor flooding from rainfall and snowmelt is occurring in streams along the Rocky Mountain Front in west-central Montana.
Gage-heights at four (4) U.S. Geological Survey streamgages on western tributaries to the Missouri River along the Rocky Mountain Front in Montana are exceeding National Weather Service (NWS) minor to major flood stages. NWS reports “on average, 2- to 4-inches of rain has fallen across the warned areas.” The Blackfeet Nation has declared a “flood disaster.”
No peaks of record were observed. No streamgages were damaged or destroyed. Two crews completed discharge measurements today needed for rating definition.
Stakeholders and the general public are being kept informed by multiple methods including NWSChat and social media.
