PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NE) Nebraska WSC Flood Response for May 24, 2019

Summary: Minor flooding occurred in the Weeping Water River basin, Little and Big Nemaha River basins, and Big Blue River basin of southeast Nebraska.

2-4 inches of rain last night on top of several days of on-and-off again rain has caused five streamgages in the Little Nemaha, Big Nemaha, Weeping Water, and Blue River basins of southeast Nebraska to go above minor floodstage, and several streamgages in the Salt Creek basin to be near floodstage. Rain is expected to continue in the southeast portion of Nebraska throughout the weekend.

Three USGS crews from the Lincoln Field Office have been deployed to make high flow and flood measurements throughout these basins . At this time, there is no planned measurements for Saturday, May 25.

There has been no formal communication of these efforts to other agencies, and measurements will be made available on the NWIS webpage.
