PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (KS) Flooding continues throughout eastern half of Kansas

Summary: Heavy rainfall has continued to hit Kansas causing flooding throughout the eastern half of the state.

Additional heavy rain has continued flash flooding and riverine flooding throughout the eastern half of the state of Kansas. Currently there are 26 sites above action stage, 28 sites above flood stage, 12 sites above moderate flood stage, and no sites above major flood stage.

Six crews are currently deployed making discharge measurements and two sampling crews are deployed in support of sediment and water-quality studies impacted by the high flow.

No gages have been destroyed as a result of the flooding.

Additional rainfall is expected for today with a potential for up to 1.5 inches. Many streams are continuing to rise with crests forecast to occur on May 9th and 10th.
