PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NY) Flooding in eastern New York

Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2019 11:14:10 EDT

Summary: Streams and rivers have receded below NWS Flood stages at most locations in eastern New York.

Streams and rivers have receded below NWS Flood stages at most locations in eastern New York. However, moderate flooding is forecast to continue along the Schroon River today and remain above NWS Flood stage through Friday. The flooding is a result of 1-3.5 inches of rain and snowmelt in the Adirondack Mountains last weekend.

Today, a total of 5 USGS crews (10 staff members) from the Troy, NY office are making numerous high-flow discharge measurements in the Hudson R, Delaware R, and Lake Champlain basins for rating calibration. Yesterday, a total of 6 USGS crews (12 staff members) from the Troy, NY and Potsdam, NY offices made 20 high-flow discharge measurements and repaired one gage that was partially damaged. This is the last Project Alert for this high-flow event.
