Summary: Minor to moderate flooding is occurring throughout eastern New York as a result of 1-3.5 inches of rain along with snowmelt in the the Adirondack Mountains.
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring throughout eastern New York as a result of 1-3.5 inches of rain along with snowmelt in the the Adirondack Mtns. One USGS streamgage along the Mettawee R is at NWS Moderate Flood stage and about 10 USGS streamgages have reached or are forecast to reach NWS Minor Flood Stage on Monday. Affected basins include Mettawee R, Schroon R, Sacandaga R, Beaver Kill, Schoharie Cr, E Br Delaware R, E Br Ausable R, and Upper Hudson R. Streamflows are forecast to decrease at many locations Monday evening, although the Upper Hudson R and Schroon R are forecast to continue rising Monday night. Schroon R is forecast to reach NWS Moderate flood stage Monday evening thru Thursday. A total of 6 USGS crews (12 staff members) from the Troy, NY and Potsdam, NY offices mare making numerous high-flow discharge measurements today for rating calibration. One gage has been partially damaged and is scheduled to be repaired today.
